Happy New Year! Welcome to 2025. I’ve been in the fitness industry for over 30 years and have experienced this New Year Resolution phenomenon every year.

I have always written articles about how to jump-start your fitness program, lose the holiday weight, reset your goals for the new year, and so on.

But this year, I am lost for words because the fitness industry and what I have been writing about are redundant, resolutions are so outdated, and the diet industry (med to lose weight, but in small print states that once you stop, the weight comes back with a vengeance).

The questions I want to ask you. What Do You want to do in 2025? How do you plan to reach your goals? Are you committed to reaching your goal or goals?

You do not need a new year to start your journey. You can start anytime because each passing second, minute, hour, and days are gone.

Whatever makes you happy, do You this year.

Here are straightforward tips to think about to help you get started. Let's do this!

Rethink Your Goals

Changing habits is not an easy task for anyone because we are human. Therefore, step back and prepare for that upcoming change.

It’s a new year, and what perfect timing to look at the past year’s accomplishments.

Reflect on the goals you set for yourself in 2024. Which goals did you achieve, and which ones that were not reached? Ask yourself why this happened.

Celebrate the small accomplishments you have made in the previous year, and use that as a motivator to propel you into a new year.

Stay positive, build on small changes, allow room for error, and make gradual changes for 2025.

Me Moments

We all live busy lives these days. Ensure you take time for yourself daily. Even a few minutes a day where you don’t worry about anything else can work wonders for you.

Devote this time to meditating, reading, exercising, or whatever else helps you positively feed your mental health. We want to maintain a balanced life.

Dedication Is Time

One last thing to consider is time and commitment. There are no rules set in stone that state you have to start your new journey on the 1st of January.

As I mentioned, you do not need a new year to start your journey. You can start anytime because each passing second, minute, hour, and days are gone.

You need to ask yourself these significant questions. Do I have the time? Am I committed to accomplishing my set goal or goals?

Once answered, BE SMART.

Setting tiny goals that are achievable and realistic will lead to sustainable

motivation and long-term success of your goal.

S - Specific - Goal

M - Measurable - Deadline

A - Achievable - Can you do it, even if you have to push yourself

R - Relevant - Does it align with your mission or journey

T - Time-Bound - Set a deadline for achievement

Make 2025 the year you do whatever makes you happy. Silence the noise and do you. I hope these candid tips give you something to think about.
