Happy New Year to you all, and welcome to 2024!

New Year, No to Resolutions, New Approach.

It's that time of year that everyone creates for those New Year resolutions.

Oh no! Not those resolutions again, those crazy promises you convinced yourself you would make in the new year, such as getting organized, saving more/spending less, spending more time with friends and family, or (gasp) starting a new fitness regimen to exercise more or lose weight.

The truth is New Year Resolutions are outdated and unrealistic.

Take a new approach and make tiny goals each month instead of making a list of unrealistic resolutions.

Set Tiny SMART Goals

Setting tiny goals that are achievable and realistic will lead to sustainable motivation and long-term success of your long goal.

For example, if you are walking sporadically weekly and your goal is to run a marathon within three months, this is unrealistic and not within reach.

A SMART Goal would be to walk/run a 5k or 10k race. Once you accomplish that tiny goal, set a bigger one, a half-marathon, and then a full marathon.

Whatever your goals are, are your goals tiny and achievable, and how does it fit into your lifestyle?

Mentally Prepare For Change

Changing a habit or habits is not an easy undertaking. It is vital to step back and prepare for that upcoming change. Before embarking on your new journey, take a moment and examine the prior year's accomplishments and what goals fell short.

Remember to celebrate your achievements and use that as motivation to propel yourself into a new year of challenges and goals. Maintain positivity when acknowledging non-achieved goals, allow room for reflection, and make gradual changes.

Time Availability

We all live busy lives these days, set aside adequate time for yourself when thinking about setting new goals for the year.

There are no rules set in stone that you have to start your new goals on January 1st.

Focus on the current moment and ask yourself what you want to change in the new year. With new goals comes time availability. Do you have the time, resources, and support group to make these goals doable?

The truth is New Year Resolutions are outdated and unrealistic.

Make 2024 the year you make No Resolutions and take a New Approach. Make tiny goals each month instead of making a list of unrealistic resolutions, and quit. In doing so, you will reach your main goal with confidence.
