Explore the Great Outdoors This June
Discover the benefits of spending time in the great outdoors this June. Engage in biking, walking, hiking, or running to enhance your overall health and mental well-being while spending time closer to nature.
LET'S GET PHYSICALSUMMER SERIES

Memorial Weekend 2025 marks the start of the summer season. Summer represents a time for growth and new adventures. And a time for relaxation from the daily grind of our routines. It is the peak of nature's cycle.
The sun is bright, and the days are longer, allowing us to spend more time outdoors and enjoy recreational activities. People who spend time outdoors are happier, healthier, have better quality of sleep, and are cognitively and physically stronger, according to recent research.
Being exposed to nature, I experience a sense of stillness and positive energy from the lush green trees, wildlife, chirping birds, and water streams. Experiencing nature adventures is impossible in a gym.
Just in time!
June is Great Outdoors Month. What a great way to get outdoors and enjoy Mother Earth by biking, walking, hiking, or running. Either dust off your bike or grab your walking or running sneakers and get outdoors with me this month. Have a positive impact on your overall health and mental well-being.
Explore your Local Parks and Multi-Use Trails by Biking
Think about this for a moment.
You can explore your local and state parks and get in shape at the same time. You can also make this a family event. Biking offers a variety of health and fitness benefits: building muscular strength and endurance in your legs, increasing cardiovascular fitness, and improving joint mobility. Most importantly, you can spend time with your friends and family while staying healthy.
If you don't have a bike, I highly recommend visiting your local bike specialty shop and getting fitted for a proper bike and helmet. Safety always comes first. And the upfront costs for a bike, helmet, and pump can fit any budget.
Troll Local and State Parks by Walking, Hiking, or Running
During the summer season, I enjoy visiting local and state parks. We mix our days with walking, hiking, or running. I stay physically active and maintain my health by getting the recommended 150 minutes weekly for health benefits.
For added benefits or weight loss, 150 to 300 minutes of weekly physical activity. Physical benefits include cardiovascular health, increased muscle and bone strength, reduced metabolic conditions, and improved balance and stability.
I highly recommend purchasing cross-training or walking sneakers with good traction before hitting the trails or pavement.
I have to mention that sneakers Do Not have to cost hundreds of dollars. You can find a good pair of sneakers at your local discount store or online. Learn about your foot style here before purchasing your next pair.
Hydrate and Wear Sunscreen to Protect Your Body
Drink plenty of water because 55 to 72 percent of our body is water. During the dead of summer, your body weight can fluctuate dramatically and quickly, especially after exercising in the heat because of sweat.
Sunscreen is vital, especially during the summer months. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or greater. The higher the SPF, the more protected your skin is against UV radiation.
Apply sunscreen to all exposed areas of the skin, face, neck, ears, nose, hands, and legs.
Improve your overall health and mental health by joining me outdoors this June. Explore nature, learn new things, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the summer season!
